Saturday, July 18 - We will arrive and settle in our 4 star hotel located close to the city center, shopping, museums and other attractions.
Sunday-Monday, July 19-20 - A prepaid Helsinki Card and the services of a Viking concierge to assist with planning will be our ticket to seeing this "White City of the North". We will have unlimited public transportation by bus, tram, local train, ferry and the world's northern most subway system!
A comprehensive audio city tour will take us to Senate Square; Uspensky Cathedral, Parliment Building, Olympic Stadium as well as other interesting locations.
Entry is included to the National Museum, City Museum, Finnish National Gallery, the Ateneum for classical Finnish art, the Sinebrychoff for classical European art, and the graceful, but controversial, Kiasma for modern art.
Take a ferry to Suomenlinna Maritime Fortress, aUNESCO "World Heritage Site", and a thriving artists' enclave. The Korkeassaari Zoo - an island showcasing the animals of the world from the arctic tundra to the tropical rainforests - is in easy reach via ferry.
Tuesday, July 21- We drive through the rolling landscape of the western Karelia to St. Petersburg to board our ship and begin the "Waterways of the Czars" tour.
