Saturday, April 25 - Depart Cuzco in the morning for a full bus ride across the Altiplano, passing picturesque villages and towns. We arrive in Puno early in the afternoon. Puno is on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at over 12,555 feet above sea level. We will have time to look around Puno and get settled for our two night stay. Sunday, April 26 - We begin with an excursion on lake Titicaca to the floating islands inhabited by Uros Indians. These islands are made of reeds which grow along the banks of the lake. The reeds are even used to make their homes, furniture and boats! They have maintained their traditions and lifestyle for centuries. They survive by fishing, hunting and selling beautiful handicrafts. (B,L)
After lunch, we continue by boat to the Island of Taquile, where the Quechua-speaking residents weave some of Peru's finest textiles. We return to Puno for overnight. (B,L)
Monday, April 27 - Enjoy Puno this morning. We transfer to Juliaca for the flight to Lima where on arrival we will be transfered to our hotel. (B)
Tuesday, April 28 - Our flights departs in the evening, so enjoy your day in Lima exploring this interesting city. We will have the use of a dayroom at our hotel. (B)
Wednesday, April 29 - We depart Lima after midnight and return to Los Angeles today.
